Immediacy and in the moment creativity are the compelling energies of doing a watercolor for me. As a wash of color goes down the clarity of order and placement of those colors have to be first and foremost in your mind. There is very little that can be done to correct a misplaced or ill-ordered color wash. As a purist, I prefer the paper to be the white that appears in my watercolors, rather than an opaque white paint, so being mindful of what areas of the image have to be left white is tantamount to getting a fresh crisp image. The Watercolors Portfolio is a collection of watercolor paintings from France, Brazil, Martha’s Vineyard and the Hudson Valley by Glenn Tunstull.
