Step One: Client contacts Tunstull Studio and provides complete contact information, description of size requirements, color palette and preferred subject matter. A photograph of the potential subject matter may be provided for review. Commission work generally requires two to four months lead-time.
Step Two: Glenn Tunstull will reply within 14 days providing a written estimate and time line for the project, along with a contract for services. Contract for all services requires a 30% non-refundable deposit. The balance is due in full, upon completion, and prior to shipment of the art work(s). Client is responsible for all packing, shipping and insurance costs.
Step Three: Project is initiated with the return of the fully executed, signed contract, and 30% non-refundable deposit, and the photograph to be used in the creation of the original oil painting.
Suggestions as to How to Select Photographic Images:
Tunstull prefers to utilize images of the subject that he has created from photographs or sketches he has taken himself. He will make arrangements to meet to capture images of the subject(s) for use in the final painting. This process could take between a half hour to three hours. Special locations, whether at home or outside, are useful destinations for paintings. Additionally the Client can review existing portraits and snapshots, travel photos of special places or even use their own home as a backdrop. Family portrait commissions are based on a per-person/pet rate beginning at $1500, 12” x 16’, for oil paintings and $900 per person/pet, 12” x 16, for watercolors. Escalated rates are determined depending on size. All images are subject to the approval of the artist. Paintings can be created from multiple images or sources. Commercial reproductions can be purchased and combined with personal photographs.
Optionally, the client may wish to work in tandem with Tunstull Studio to select or create an image for the original oil painting. An additional fee is assessed, which may include travel time and expenses where appropriate.
